Play Group
INTRODUCTION
The Learning Program at MPK is based on the development of skills across the main
domains of Early Childhood Development. L S R W - forms the framework for our
pedagogy - Listen Speak Read and finally Write. Hence there is no writing in
Nursery class. It comprises Language, Numeracy, Story Telling, and Montessori
sessions. The Joy Quotient (JQ) is the common thread that is part of all our
teaching pedagogy.
Play Group
As per research, the earlier the exposure of the child to a rich learning
experience the greater the development of the skills. The transformation of the
child from a little toddler crying in the first month to a confident happy child
at the end of the academic year fills us with pride .The development of skills
and the pace of development of skills is truly phenomenal in this group.
Your Child will Learn
Language Skills
Development is from words to phrases to sentences.
Stories, puppet play, rhymes, concept learning, art, role play, music;
every activity develops language and communication skills.
Gross Motor Skills
Ample opportunities to develop gross motor skills
related to large muscles - running, jumping, hopping.
Montessori
activities, EPL activities, free play, physical activities, art/craft,
teaching aids (in- house) to develop motor skills, music and movement,
toy play, water play and a host of emotional activities.
Social /Emotional Skills
One of the most important skills to develop in early
childhood which lays the foundation for your habits/values in the
future.
Role Play, Free play, Group Play, Games, Dance and many more
activities to develop this skill.
Cognitive Skills
Cognitive functions are developed by activities which
involve listening, understanding and paying attention. Children are
encouraged to question laying a strong foundation for future academic
success.
Knowledge is imparted through colourful books, flash cards,
experiential learning and a host of activities.
Programs
Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-Nursery
& Nursery)
Language Skills:
Development is from words to phrases to sentences. Stories, puppet play, rhymes,
concept learning, art, role play, music; every activity develops language and
communication skills.
- *The Alphabet along with their phonic sounds
- *Playway method along with the Software-MI Kids reinforces the concepts
- *Sight reading of small words
- *General Awareness topics dealing with the environment of the child.
Numeracy:
Numbers with their symbols and values done with experimental learning.
- *Math concepts like shapes and concepts related to dimensions with
activities to develop math skills and readiness for future learning.
Motor skills:
Ample opportunities to develop gross motor skills related to large muscles -
running, jumping, hopping.
Montessori activities, EPL activities, free play, physical activities, art/craft,
teaching aids (in- house) to develop motor skills, music and movement, toy play,
water play and a host of emotional activities.
- *Art/craft activities are given importance to develop motor skills as well
as creativity.
- *Parachute play develops, motor skills and concentration too.

Programs
Kindergarten 1 (KG 1)
Literacy:
The Nursery Program is continued in KG I taking it to the next level.
Alphabet with their phonic sounds are taught and the children are introduced to
the Writing of the letters of the alphabet
- *Reading of simple sight words/ 3 letter words.
- *Circle Time and Parachute Play develop language as well as concentration
skills and topics dealing with the environment of the child.
Numeracy:
Numbers, their value, symbols (oral and written) are taught keeping the way
children learn best - sensorial, games, experiential activities along with math
concepts involving dimensions an shapes.
Physical Development:
- *Gross motor muscles are developed through Games, Free Play, Garden Play,
Water Play, Music and Movement.
- *Weekly skating sessions have made our little ones champions.
- *EPL activities hone their fine motor skills developing concentration, sense
of independence and spatial skills.
Social/ Emotional Skills:
One of the most important skills that lay the base for all habits/values. Ample
opportunities for group play, Parachute play, free play, picnics, field trips,
water play, skating, celebrations, and events build these skills. Circle Time
sessions, Speaking rounds build self- esteem and confidence helping the child to
express his/her feelings and thoughts freely.
Cognitive Skills:
Cognitive functions are developed by activities which involve listening,
understanding, thinking, learning and paying close attention. Children are
encouraged to question laying a strong foundation for future academic success.

Knowledge:
Besides the alphabet and numeracy, topics of common interest are dealt
extensively through multimedia, art, storytelling, giving children time to
explore their areas of interest.
Kindergarten 1 (KG 2)
The pace of learning accelerates here as children are now 'ready' to take up more
challenges in all domains of development. Immersive learning ensures there is no
rote learning.
Language:
A strong base in phonics helps in learning 3/ 4/ 5 letter words by joining
phonemes to form words. Comprehension and Composition Exercises develop
creativity and imagination.
Hindi:
A new subject to learn - स्वर, व्यंजन, words and sentences through multimedia and
games.
Social Emotional skills:
One of the most important skills that lay the base for all habits/values. Ample
opportunities for group play, Parachute Play, free play, water play, skating,
picnics, field trips, celebrations, events build these skills. Circle Time
sessions, Speaking Rounds build self-esteem and confidence helping the child to
express his/her feelings and thoughts freely.

explore their areas of interest. Class Projects help children take up topics of
their choice and do an in-depth study. The project presentation builds their
communication skills and their confidence.
Numeracy:
The framework is the same and it is a continuation of earlier learnt concepts.
The learning accelerates and involves more complex math concepts as it is
'readiness' for the Primary School.
